Incoming 6th Grade Information!

Dear Families,
Thank you for selecting Portola Charter / AIAT / HGM Middle School as your school of choice. We look forward to welcoming your child and getting to know them as they become part of the Portola family.

Please complete the 6th Grade Class Registration Form using the link below:
This form allows you to:
  • Indicate your child’s elective preferences

2) Household Income Form (REQUIRED)
All students are required to fill out this form. This form ensures the school receives additional State and Federal funding, which is essential for supporting extracurricular programs on our campus. This is a confidential form that goes directly to the District to determine additional funding for Portola.
3) Accelerated Math Courses (OPTIONAL)
All students will be placed in Math 6. Students who are identified as gifted will be placed in Honors Math 6.
Families who are interested in accelerating beyond Honors Math 6 are encouraged to review and complete the linked form. Please note that there will be no math placement test.
In alignment with District guidance, placement for accelerated math courses beyond Math 6 will be determined using multiple measures, including:
For current LAUSD 5th‑grade students, the End‑of‑Year (EOY) i‑Ready Math Diagnostic will be used as part of the criteria for accelerated placement. Please ensure your child is present for the EOY i-Ready Math test that is taken at the end of 5th grade at your local LAUSD elementary school.
Students who are new to LAUSD will be assessed during the first week of school to determine eligibility using the same criteria.
Please complete the form if you are interested in the accelerated pathway:
