Middle School Culmination Requirements

LAUSD BUL-3815.3 defines the criteria for issuance of a Middle School Certificate of Completion, and for students to participate in the Middle School Culmination Activity, through supporting student achievement and guiding students in preparing for matriculation from middle school to high school.
 
To earn a Certificate of Completion students must:
Earn 50 credits in 8th grade
Earn a mark of "D" or better in each core class, PE, and elective
 
To Participate in the Culmination Ceremony students must:
Earn 50 credits in 8th grade
Receive no more than two FAILS their entire 8th grade school year
Earn no more than two U's in Cooperation and no more than two U's in Work Habits as part of the final grades issued in BOTH the Fall and Spring their entire 8th grade year.
 
Please note: Frequent or serious violations of school regulations can disqualify a student from participating in culmination and other 8th grade activities.
