Behavior and Discipline

Portola has a community commitment to the following basic school rules. Portola Phoenixes RISE UP! Respectful Communicators, Independent Thinkers, Socially Responsible, and Educationally Prepared. The Portola Code of Conduct below is a set of specific rules that fit into this positive behavior support plan.
 

BEHAVIORAL EXPECTATIONS

    • RESPECTFUL COMMUNICATORS
      I will resolve conflicts peacefully
      I will use kind and restorative language at all times
      I will value diversity and the perspectives of others
      I will advocate for myself and my community in a respectful manner
       
    • INDEPENDENT THINKERS
      I will commit to learning and supporting all classroom and campus rules
      I will use “I” statements to express my thoughts, feelings, and concerns

      SOCIALLY RESPONSIBLE
      I will walk at all times on campus and keep my hands to myself
      I will take care of school property
      I will clean up my trash and help keep the campus clean
       
    • EDUCATIONALLY PREPARED
      I will come to school and class prepared to learn and with all of my materials
      I will dress for success and safety
      I will come to school with a growth mindset
