Special Day Program (SDP)

The Special Day Program (SDP) is designed for students with disabilities who are participating in the general education curriculum and are working toward a high school diploma. Students enrolled in SDP are assigned to special education classroom teachers for a major part of their academic instruction. Each class consists of approximately 10-15 students including a trained para-professional. Students participate in general education elective as well as physical education.

Whenever appropriate and feasible, students in SDP may be included/mainstreamed in general education classes.

Here at Portola we have two Special Day Programs.  We have a SDP for Students with Specific Learning Disabilities and Students with Autism. Both programs are standards based and use the district adopted curriculum that is the same as our general education classes.
