TAFT CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL - 2023-24

This year instead of an in-person presentation, Taft is asking incoming 9th grade students to view a slide show showing the various programs and classes and sign up for your course requests on the link below. There is also a bit.ly at the bottom of the flyer for parents to access a counselor if they have any questions.  See attachment below for the flyer.

Students who are interested in applying to Taft's AIAT, SAS, and Humanitas* programs will need to submit applications online.

*Please note that the Humanitas program is designed for students who are not identified as gifted.
 
New students who have been accepted to the Gifted STEAM Magnet or the SAS program will be invited to a zoom informational meeting.  Formal invitations will be sent to the parents in early May when our enrollment has been finalized.    
 
New Magnet Student & Parent Meeting: May 14 at 6PM-7PM
 
New SAS Student & Parent Meeting:  May 21 at 6PM - 7PM

Based on the specific support requested, a counselor will either respond by email or by making a phone appointment on May 29 or May 30.  

RESEDA CHARTER HIGH SCHOOL

Families may apply to Reseda Charter HS through LAUSD's Unified Enrollment online (apply.lausd.net), the charter link and simply indicate their desire to apply to our SAS Program.  Reseda is expanding their SAS Program into 6th grade starting next year (60 student limit) and adding a middle school grade level each year going forward to eventually become a 6-12 SAS Program.  Reseda's SAS application is available to download at their website (link below).  Parents should return applications to Mr. Kline at [email protected]

8TH GRADE STUDENTS ONLY

If you are interested in taking a high school course over the summer, you will need to complete an application and email it to your high school counselor for approval.
 
Opportunities for Learning offers classes to students who are 14 year and older by July 1, 2020 free of charge

For community college summer courses, you can apply online with the concurrent enrollment application. 
 
 
Taft Students: Taft will not allow high school credit for most academic classes, except Health, Art and PE. There needs be a scheduling conflict for students to take required courses outside of Taft. If you are hoping to enroll in a summer course, it will need to be approved and signed by your counselor at Taft. Contact Ms. Yu at [email protected].
